This smart instrument is used for checking stress in mounted lenses. The tensiometer is switched on and the lens to be tested is positioned between the two polarizing filters. Stress is shown up as multi-coloured patterns (Newton’s rings). The instrument can be angled using an adjustable foot positioned towards the back of the unit, to optimize the viewing position.
