The Reichert Tonopen Avia Tonometer is an easy-to-use, hand-held instrument that provides IOP readings that correlate strongly with Goldmann tonometry standards. This tonometer has a lightweight, ergonomic design and advanced electronic measurement technology that enables operators to take fast and accurate readings with minimal training. The instrument is powered by a long-life battery pack that lasts for more than 2,500 measurements and sanitised tip covers are used to minimise the risk of cross infection. 

This tonometer utilises micro strain gauge technology and a 1.0 mm contact area. The advanced microprocessor technology produces IOP measurements that are less influenced by operator bias than Goldmann tonometry. The unit displays the average of 10 readings along with a statistical coefficient making the results accurate, repeatable and reliable. 

This tonometer has been designed to help eliminate operator error, functions equally well in any position and allows use with patients in bed or in wheelchairs. Activated by the push of a button, the IOP measurement is displayed on two large LCD screens, positioned on either side of the instrument, to allow for both left-handed and right-handed users. The speed of the measurement process is a major benefit for the comfort of the patient.
